Google has introduced Sheets canvas, a feature that uses its Gemini AI to convert Google Sheets data into interactive, visual layouts without coding, according to a Google blog post. Users open a spreadsheet, click the Gemini icon in the Ask Gemini side panel, and select "Create canvas," then describe what they want in natural language. Google describes the tool as a "dynamic, read-write layer that sits directly on top of your spreadsheet data," meaning changes made in the canvas sync back to the original spreadsheet automatically. Google lists example uses including study trackers for students, fantasy football dashboards, wedding seating charts built from guest RSVP data, and event planning. According to Google, the seating-chart example allows users to drag and drop guests to tables while the central sheet stays updated. The feature is available globally in English to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. Google says it is rolling out starting on the announcement date to Google Workspace customers on Business or Enterprise Standard and Plus plans, and to Google AI Pro for Education add-on subscribers.
